Sports News Peace Road Project at Accra Sports Stadium on July 9
JUL 7, 2016 LISTEN

The Peace Road is an annual celebration of peace activities that are fêted in a chain format from one nation to the other covering more than 120 nations in the world within a given time period. This year, the peace Road activities kicked-off from Seoul in South Korea in the month of April 2016. Each day until November, 2016, nations across the globe will commemorate, celebrate and anticipate peace on earth, reminding humanity that we are all “One global family under One God.”

The Peace Road is a project of UPF. Since its founding, the UPF has been supporting and supplementing the works of the UN. Among many other initiatives, the UPF has called on the construction of a network of roads from the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa that will link several nations and connect Santiago in Chile. The project hopes to intersect Japan and Korea through an undersea tunnel while hooking Russia and the United States of America via the Bering Strait passage. It is a laudable project that has its aim to connect all nations on earth by road. A significant objective of the Peace road is to create awareness on the necessity for a united Peaceful Korean Peninsula.

The event in Ghana on Saturday July 9 is well-timed during this period for two main reasons:

1. It will serve as an occasion to celebrate and thank God for the peace we have enjoyed for many years now.

2. It is an opportunity to connect and prepare Ghana for the upcoming elections of December 2016.

The activities in Ghana this year will include a cultural demonstration by the CPS at the Accra stadium, a peace Bike Tour of the Cycling federation of Ghana and messages of peace from various Peace Ambassadors and religious representatives in the nation.

The Peace Project in Ghana is spearheaded by Rev. Anthony Arthur and supported by Universal Peace Foundation, Ghana Cycling Federation, T Best, News Look Organic Farms and the National Scouts and Guide Fellowship.

The event shall take place on the 9th of July 2016, from 8:30 am to 12:00 am at the Accra Sports Stadium. The public is invited to join in this special event to celebrate and sustain the peace we have enjoyed in the country for many years.
