Steaua Bucuresti midfielder Muniru Sulley is getting used to playing in his customized protective mask as he featured in the 1-0 over Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
Sulley was a second half substitute and missed a glorious chance to put them into the lead.
But Dan Popescu made amends with the winner on 79 minutes.
Milan-based firm Ortholabsport designed the carbon mask for the player who suffered from a horrible facial injury during a Romanian League Cup match back in May.
He came out worse after he was headed in the face by an Astra Giurgiu player and had to be rushed to a hospital in an ambulance and was admitted as an emergency case.
Sulley underwent a successful surgery to correct a cheekbone fracture.
The mask has the name of his elder brother Muntari, a former Inter and AC Milan star, and other siblings inscribed on it.
