Ex-Hearts of Oak captain Nuru Sulley has called on the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League board to improve the nature of pitches used in the Ghana Premier League.

Nuru, 22, is the latest to have added his voice to the worrying nature of the local pitches after Asamoah Gyan, Rashid Sumaila and Majeed Waris had laid bare the issue.

The Alanyaspor defender believes that the Ghana Premier League can be one of the best on the continent if pitches are improved.

Speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com, Nuru Sulley heaped praises on the local sports media for the massive transformation of the local league.

'The GPL this season has been marvelous and I always praise the media on that.

'You people have done a marvelous job with the way you hype the matches now.

'Now everyone wants to go to the stadium to watch matches and that is good. But we still need to improve,' he said.

'The major area we need to improve is our pitches. We need to get better pitches for the game and that will improve the quality of play,' he added.

'Most of our pitches locally are very poor and we must work seriously to improve them.'

He argued that the poor pitches used locally takes the shine away from most games as ball control and passing becomes difficult.
