Medeama head coach Prince Owusu believes that his players were simply not fortunate in front of goal in their goalless draw with MO Bejaia in their CAF Confederations Cup Group A tie played at the Essipong Stadium on Wednesday.

The Yellow and Mauves were expected to get their first win of the competition but they failed to put away the chances they created on the day.

After the match, Owusu told reporters that his charges were unlucky despite their adherence to the tactical plan they had put together.

'One could tell from our training sessions that we wanted to work down the flanks and we did that a lot during the match. We suffered from bad luck. We could not finish our chances off.

We could have scored about five times in the first half but we did not and that has allowed people to question us.

The players did exactly what I asked of them and they did well.' The result moved Bejaia's point tally to four after two matches and their coach Nasser Sendjak stated that they believed in their strategy and it paid off for them.

'We played against a very good team but we had a plan and it worked for us. We had to adapt to the nature of the game and the prevailing circumstances. We had players out due to suspension and injuries so we had to find a way. Medeama is a very good side and I am happy with the point we got today.' Medeama face Young Africans in their next group match on July 27
