The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah has said that the body will fulfil they made to Medeama SC prior to the team's departure to DR Congo for their CAF Confederation Cup group fixture against TP Mazembe.

According to Mr. Oppong Asamoah, the Sports Ministry promised to finance the club's air tickets to-and-fro, and have not reneged on their commitment to assist the Mauve and Yellows.

"When they were leaving [to DR Congo], we made a promise to them and we are going to redeem the promise. We promised to take the air fare, so we have taken the bill and we will pay it to them," he assured in an interview with Success FM.

Medeama SC is the only Ghanaian club in Africa's CAF inter-club football competitions, and Mr. Asamoah reckons their quest for glory will be down to the support of Ghanaians.

"As a Ghanaian and a sports enthusiast, I wish them well. The sports ministry wish them well. There are the only team representing our country and we have to throw our weight behind them and I'm hopeful their participation in the competition will be a success," he said.

Having lost their first group game in Lubumbashi about two weeks ago, Mr. Oppong Asamoah charged the Tarkwa-based club to amass all the points at stake against MO Bejaia when they meet at the Essipong sports stadium on Wednesday.

"They lost their first game in DR Congo [against TP Mazembe] and I don't think it was a bad result because they team the played is one of the best teams in the continent and I certain they will pick the the points here," he said.

A win in this afternoon's encounter against MO Bejaia will move Medeama to second on group A after TP Mazembe defeated Young African's on Tuesday.
