League Report Ghana Premier League: Inter Allies pip Hasaacas
JUN 26, 2016 LISTEN

Inter Allies defeated Sekondi Hasaacas in their first game of the Ghana Premier League after its return for the second round at the Tema sports stadium on Sunday.

The Eleven Is One having recorded only a win in their last eight league matches prior to end of the first round of the season saw them finish 18th with only 2 points above the relegation zone. Inter Allies came out of their blocks to fight their way back to have an early cushion to maintain their top flight status.

Head coach Jimmy Cobblah's men began the game on the front foot an immediately had an early advantage to open the scoring. Daniel Egyin brought down Sheriff Deo Mohammed within two minutes into the game, but Frederick Boateng who took the responsibility skied his penalty kick to the dismay of the his coaches.

It was a sigh of relief for Yussif Basigi and his entourage, but it was short lived as the 20-year-old made amends with a beauty of a finish after four minutes beyond Michael Abu who manned the post in place of veteran George Owu.

A defensive blunder due to miscommunication between Albert Gaisie and Emmanuel Ankobeah saw the ball fell invitingly on the path of Frederick, and he lobbed the ball into the net, and that was the only goal as neither side could score within the regulation time.

Several other chances came the way of Inter Allies, but Sherrif Deo Mohammed and Frederick missed the opportunities to keep the game beyond the reach the Oil City men, and it meant a tense finish.

Sekondi Hasaacas had only one effort on target courtesy of Isaac Acheampong, but Osei Kwame was well positioned, and he superbly tipped the ball over the cross bar for Hasaacas corner which came to naught.

Hasaacas gained impetus from there on, but their incursions were harmless as Gockel Ahortor and George Asamoah limited their moves to the midfield.

And Jimmy Cobblah's men held on to give him his second victory in his career with the Eleven Is To One.

Inter Allies now have 21 points after sixteen games into this year's season.
