Accra, Jun 20, GNA - Adisadel College, has won the maiden edition of the Citizens International Inter-schools Hockey Tournament at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch, in Accra.
The tournament, was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Citizens International Hockey Club and also to honour the late madam Theodosia okoh and Dr. Emmanuel Evans-Anfom for their various contributions to the development of hockey in the country.
The maiden tournament which was won by Adisadel College for the male category, saw them beat Prempeh College to the trophy on a superior head-to-head aggregate after the two schools were tied on same points, as Adisadel had beating Prempeh 4:0 on penalties earlier in the tournament.
Yaa Asantewa SHS also won for the female category showing their superiority over Wesley girls school and Achimota School to record the heaviest score line in regulation time by beating Wesley girls by 5:0.
The one day tournament saw schools who are noted for playing hockey like, Achimota School, Adisadel College, Mfasipim School, St. Augustines College, Prempeh College, Wesley girls and Yaa Asantewa girls school compete for the trophy at stake.
The tournament was sponsored by NDK Financiers, SG SSB Bank, Latex Foam Limited and Ever pure drinking water.
