Black Stars winger Solomon Asante won the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) on Sunday as former CAF Champions League holders TP Mazembe wallops Sharks XI FC.

Yaw Frimpong could have given Mazembe the lead in the 12th minute after an eye catching combination between himself, Sinkala and Solomon Asante but the Ghanaian missed the opportunity.

TP Mazembe broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when the diminutive winger (Solomon Asante) corner kick found Yaw Frimpong who released Singuluma to slot in the opener.

TP Mazembe extended the lead in the 49th minute through Nathan Sinkala courtesy Asante’s assistance.

The former Berekum Chelsea forward was denied by the woodwork in the 51st minute. Former Asante Kotoko captain Daniel Nii Adjei replaced Yaw Frimpong, who got injured in the 68th minute.

Kalaba wasted a golden opportunity in the 72nd minute when Solomon Asante set him through. However, Robert Assale signed off the day for TP Mazembe with the third goal.

TP Mazembe have won two and drawn one from their last three matches. They’ll storm Ghana on Wednesday to take on Medeama SC in the CAF Confederation Cup match this weekend at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi.
