Accra, May 31, GNA - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama sent a goodwill message to the Black Stars ahead of their first leg 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday, June 5.

In his message to the team, the Hon. Minister says he is very confident the team can "weather the storm and carry the day but must not be complacent."

'The team should prepare their minds psychologically and renew their spirit of conviction. They should not rest on their oars but work hard towards victory. The game of football is now more of brain power and tactical discipline which I believe our boys have. There is nothing they cannot achieve with the right focus and the can-do spirit, 'he said.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye admonished the players to abide strictly by the rules of the game and to also take the instructions of their coach.

He also urged the coach, the technical and management team of the Black Stars to ensure that the playing body is well-conditioned and prepared physically, mentally and psychologically ahead of the competition.

The Minister called on all Ghanaians to rally solidly behind the Stars as they embark on yet another journey to raise high the flag of Ghana.
