League Report Paul Acquah sums up Hearts of Oak's determination to remain unbeaten away
MAY 31, 2016 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak midfielder Paul Acquah admits the team got off to a slow start in the 1-1 draw with Dreams FC, but insists the players are happy to maintain their unbeaten run on the road.

Hearts came from a goal down to earn a hard fought draw with Dreams FC in the final game of the first round of the 2016 Ghana Premier League season. The draw ensured that Hearts are the only team not lose on the road at the halfway stage of the season, having won four and drawn four out of eight away league matches.

Paul Acquah also scored his first goal of the season, coming off the bench to pull Hearts level with a sensational strike in the 84th minute of the game to cancel out Lawson Bekui's opener for Dreams.

The back-from-injury winger has called his goal 'a nice goal' but he admitted the team did not start well having conceded a 17th minute goal in the game.

'It's a nice goal," Acquah told facebook/accraheartsofaok about his goal. but I think we started slowly in the first half and so we had a mountain to climb when they got their goal.

'We understand the game because sometimes it goes well; but other times too, it does not. So our first half did not go well but we improved in the second half. We listened to coach's instructions and that helped us to get the equalizer.

'We had a record to protect and I will say that encouraged us to fight to keep our unbeaten run away from home intact. We were all determined and we did not want to lose our away record on the last day of the first round; it helped us to keep fighting so we are happy to maintain it.'

He added: 'We are just about to start the second round but it's my prayer that things go well for all us. I am pleading to the supporters to understand that sometimes, things will go well for us; and at other times, things will be difficult for us. But they should keep us in their prayers especially when things are not going on well for us so that we can bounce back and give them what they want.'
