Accra, May 30, GNA - International Community School (ICS) and Dark Knights Chess club won Gold in the U12 and U16 respectively in the maiden edition of the Schools Team Chess Championship at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The competition, drew participants from 10 schools in Accra including ICS, Aris Eagles, Queens International School, Alpha Beta Educational Center, J&S, Ghana International School (GIS), Roman Ridge, Al Rayan Int. School, St. Mark School, British Int. School and Labone Secondary School.
The tournament organized by the Ghana Chess Association (GCA) saw Aris Eagles and Queens International School occupying the second and third positions respectively in the U-16 category.
In the U 12 category, J&S and Alpha Beta Educational Center came second and third after five rounds of brain racking chess.
Speaking in an interview, the secretary general of GCA Christiana Ashley, congratulated the winners and called for sponsors for the junior team.
