Atletico Madrid head into Saturday's Champions League final with their blue away kit proving to be their lucky colour.

Los Colchoneros have played more matches in this season's competition in their away jersey with seven matches coming in their blue kit and five in the traditional red and white stripes.

And yet, going by the precedent set in Lisbon two years ago, Atletico will be wearing their home jersey on Saturday rather than their supposedly lucky blue strip.

Atletico were forced to wear their away kit in home matches on two occasions this season with UEFA's policy dictating the change.

The first instance came when Benfica visited the Estadio Vicente Calderon and wore their white away jersey which had significant red elements within the design.

This meant Atletico were forced to wear their blue jersey whilst the second occasion came in the knockout phase against Barcelona with both teams forced to wear their away kits.

The list is completed with the trips to Istanbul, Lisbon, Eindhoven and Munich with Atletico wearing their blue kit in all of those matches.

In 2014 Atletico lifted the La Liga title whilst wearing their second strip, a historic moment remembered with the Madrid club wearing yellow.

The club has a lucky streak with their second strip but will be hoping to break it in Milan on Saturday as they line up in their traditional Rojiblancos shirt.
