League Report Ghana Premier League: Wa All Stars defeat Kotoko to halt winning run
MAY 25, 2016 LISTEN

All Stars maintained their unbeaten home run, as they edged Kumasi Asante Kotoko by a goal to nil at the Wa Park on Wednesday on match day 14 of the Ghana Premier League.

Wa All Stars controlled majority of the first half and made their dominance count when they scored the only goal of the half through Richard Arthur.

Kotoko back from recess threw everything upfront seeking for the equaliser, but good goalkeeping from Richard Ofori coupled with the hosts resilience in defence helped them to contain Kotoko.

Dauda Mohammed, who returned to the Kotoko team, after missing two games due to national team assignment managed to scare the All Stars defence, however Hafiz Adams and his colleagues in defence dealt with the threat to protect their goal line.

Wa All Stars in the course of the game created some opportunities through counter breaks, but couldn't increase their tally. Mathew K. Andoh was one of the players, who could have doubled the Wa All Stars' lead, but his shot flew over the cross bar for a goal kick.

The win has ended Asante Kotoko's 4 straight wins in the GPL, having last lost against New Edubiase United on match day 9. The defeat has also halted their 3 consecutive away victories in the league.

Wa All Stars remain unbeaten at home this season. They have won 5 and drawn 2 in 7 games at home thus far this season.
