The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has pledged support for the Vodafone Unity Cup calling on Ghanaians to tolerant to maintain peace before, during and after the elections.

He made the call when Peace Ambassador Stephen Appiah together with organizers of the Unity Cup, Primeval Media as well as headline sponsors Vodafone paid a courtesy call on him to extend a formal invitation to him for the event.

His Eminence, who is a member of the National Peace Council, applauded the initiative and prayed for a violence-free election.

'Islam is all about Peace and we must uphold that virtue. Stephen has been a great inspiration to most Ghanaian players and it is good he is championing such a course.

'We must try to be tolerant and that is what will bring peace. Islam teaches us to be peaceful. Let's return bad acts with good acts and that will always rate us ahead,' Sheikh Sharubutu advised.

The Vodafone Peace Cup is set to raise peace alarms and to canvass for peace before, during and after the elections.

The games will be played on the 8th and 11th of June in Kumasi and Accra respectively.
