Medeama CEO Essilfie insists they won't be pushovers in CAF Confederation Cup Group of Death

Medeama CEO James Essilfie says drawing tournament favourites will bring the best out of his side in their CAF Confederation Cup Group stage campaign.

The Tarkwa-based side will face Algeria side MO Bejaia, newly crowned Tanzanian champions Young Africans and DR Congo giants TP Mazembe who won the CAF Champions League last year.

Medeama will be making their debut appearance in the money zone against stellar clubs on the continent.

But the club do not expect to be pushovers in the Group B.

"We are happy with the draw. The other teams in the group will help bring the best out of Medeama. Many were those who doubted our abilities when we were drawn against Sundowns at the 1/8th round, but we proved our worth,' Essilfie told cafonline.com

"This draw will motivate us and I'm sure we can go far. TP Mazembe is not as strong as before. We always give off our best against highly rated teams.

"MO Bejaia eliminated Ghana champions Ashantigold, and we hope to avenge the defeat. Young Africans are being coached by Hans Van der Pluijm, a former coach of Medeama and playing against them will be interesting."
