League Report Snapshots From Match Day 13: Asante Kotoko Makes A Fabulous Jump
MAY 23, 2016 LISTEN

Asante Kotoko has made a triumphant jump on the Ghana Premier League (GPL) having beaten Inter Allies 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on matchday 13.

Amos Frimpong scored from the spot in the second half to give Asante Kotoko the much needed cushioning to chase for the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title.

The Porcupine Warriors have now gone four matches unbeaten since they defeated bitterest rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Monday, May 2, 2016 (Hearts of Oak 0-1 Asante Kotoko, Asante Kotoko 3-0 Ebusua Dwarfs, Bechem United 0-1 Asante Kotoko, Asante Kotoko 1-0 Inter Allies).

Again, Asante Kotoko has not conceded a single goal since they last conceded a goal against Liberty Professionals on matchday 7 where the Porcupine Warriors won 3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Interestingly, the red army was languishing at the bottom of the table after matchday 6 but have leapfrogged to the third position now with 23 points, losing just one match on the road against New Edubiase United (0-1) on matchday 9.

Nimble footed striker Cosmos Dauda’s tap in goal in the second half saved the day for the unbeaten Japanese ‘Journeyman,’ Kenichi Yatsuhashi at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa as Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars settled for a 1-1 draw.

Hearts of Oak are still on top of the GPL log with 25 points whiles Aduana Stars have moved one place up to the second position with 23 points.

CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Medeama SC screwed a pint of blood from the Dawu Park as they played a 2-2 draw game with Dreams Football Club.

Berekum Chelsea won the regional bragging right on Saturday as they won 1-0 over Bechem United in a Brong Ahafo derby at the Golden City Park.

Emmanuel Boateng’s lone goal was enough for the West African Football Academy (WAFA) to grab all three points at the Sogakope Park over the sensational Techiman City Football Club (TCFC).

Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs’ hope of clinching an away win over Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipong Sports Stadium was dashed by Eric Bekoe and Justice Mensah’s goals.

The match between AshantiGold SC and Wa All Stars at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium ended in a goalless draw.

However the match between Liberty Professionals and New Edubiase United at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, Accra will be played today.
