Football News Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko On A Mission Of Revenge
MAY 18, 2016 LISTEN

Asante Kotoko took off from the Garden City (Kumasi) late Tuesday afternoon to the Brong Ahafo region in a quest to break the BA voodoo that has bedeviled the Porcupine Warriors as they face Bechem United on Matchday 12 of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Wednesday.

Historical antecedents enumerate that the Brong Ahafo region has been a fortress for the Porcupine Warriors, but interim coach Michael Osei and his players have vowed to rewrite the story in favour of the red army.

Bechem United have not lost any home game at the Nana Gyeabour Park this season and would like to keep their enviable home record intact.

Asante Kotoko did not start the season on a good note, but they have leapfrogged to the fifth position on the league table with 17 points whiles Bechem United lies on the tenth spot with 14 points. The match is going to be highly competitive, but I for see Kotoko returning to the Garden City with a point.

Dreams Football Club will welcome the scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals to the Dawu Park (Theatre of Dreams).

Surprisingly, Coach C.K Akunnor’s side (Dreams FC) have moved from practitioners of sexy football to recipients of many goals and their woes could worsen on Wednesday if they should fail to tighten the knot on Liberty Professional’s attacking midfielder Latif Blessing whose goal scoring rate stands at 0.9 per game.

Though with a game in hand, Liberty Professionals are seventh on the league log with 16 points whiles Dreams FC occupies the sixth position with 17 points. I see Latif Blessing hitting the back of the net, but Dreams FC will pick the three points at stake.

Rejuvenated Aduana Stars will come face-to-face with rough edged New Edubiase United at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Bolstered by Dauda Mohammed’s goal scoring abilities, it’ll be easy for the starters to conclude that Aduana Stars can steal a win at Obuasi but New Edubiase United knows how to deal with the top sides very well and their match against Chioba Aristica’s side is not going to be any different.

Aduana Stars have climbed to the third spot on the league ladder with 19 points whiles New Edubiase United on the other hand, are just above the relegation zone (13th position) with 12 points.

Hearts of Oak will play as host to Sekondi Hasaacas but at an empty Accra Sports Stadium as they begin to serve their two home match ban on Wednesday.

The Phobians have been superior on the road this season than home, but I don’t think Hasaacas what it takes to cause an upset, especially when Hearts have sworn thunder and earth to win to compensate their vociferous supporters who will not have the opportunity to watch the game live.

Hearts of Oak are occupying the summit of the league table with 21 points whiles the giant from the west (Hasaacas) lies twelfth on the log with 13 points.

The West African Football Academy (WAFA) will play as guest to second placed All Stars at the Wa Park in a match which promises to be very thrilling.

Until their defeat by the sensational Techiman City on Matchday 11, Wa All Stars were on top of the Ghana Premier League table and would like to reclaim their position. All Stars have always been strong at home and I think they are going to add ninth placed WAFA to their snick of conquerors.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will be seeking to return to winning ways having sacked their head coach J.E Sarpong a couple of days ago as they face Berekum Chelsea.

Berekum Chelsea is eighth on the league table with 16 points whiles Ebusua Dwarfs are rooted at the bottom with just 9 points.

Inter Allies will host AshantiGold at the Tema Community 3 Park. Inter Allies are fifteenth on the log with 10 points whiles the soccer miners are also in the relegation bracket (14th position) with 12 points.

However, the match between Medeama Sporting Club and Techiman City Football Club at the Tarkwa T&A Park has been postponed due to Medeama’s engagement in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
