League Report Ghana Premier League: Hearts empty stadium sanction reduced to 2
MAY 17, 2016 LISTEN

The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has sanctioned Accra Hearts of Oak to play their next two home matches behind closed doors, thus reducing the earlier order by the Disciplinary committee from three matches.

The Appeals Committee, however, upheld the ruling of the Disciplinary Committee (DC) to fine Hearts of Oak a total of GH¢ 12,000 for the three counts they were charged.

Hearts of Oak on match day 6 resorted to violent acts in their 1-3 home defeat to Wa All Stars and were as a result handed a 3-match empty stadium punishment, the first in the history of the Ghana Premier League and also slapped with a fine of GH¢ 12,000

However, the Phobians who were not pleased with the ruling filed an appeal against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee. The Appeals Committee, after sitting on the case has reduced the empty stadium sanction to 2, but withheld the fine of GH¢ 12,000.

Hearts of Oak will start serving their punishment from Wednesday when they face Hasaacas, who edged them last season in Accra.
