Manchester City's Wilfried Bony would be welcomed back at Swansea 'with open arms', say Andre Ayew.

The Ivorian has been linked with a return to his former club after City paid the Swans £25m to land him in January last year.

And he is expected to be surplus to requirements when Pep Guardiola officially takes the reins at the Etihad on July 1.

But Swansea's Ghana striker Andre Ayew says the Welsh club would relish the prospect of having him back.

Bony was an unused substitute at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday while Ayew scored his side's goal in the 1-1 draw that saw the Blues seal qualification for next season's Champions League witha fourth-place Premier League finish.

Ayew said: "I spoke to Wilf at the end but I didn't tell him to come back but we all know he had two great seasons here and scored a lot of goals for the club.

"He went to a very big club and I do think he still wants to succeed there and hopefully, for him, he gets that opportunity - but if he wants to come back we will take him with open arms."

Swansea 1-1 Manchester City
Bony has scored 10 goals in 46 appearances for the Blues since his big-money arrival and has become a target for criticism from fans.

With Guardiola expected to strengthen his squad, the big striker could leave and has also been linked with West Ham.
