Sports News EXCLUSIVE: C K Akunnor facing the AXE at Dreams FC as recent poor run puts his future in the balance
MAY 10, 2016 LISTEN

Former Ghana international C K Akunnor could be the next coaching casualty in the Ghana Premier League as Dreams FC are considering sacking him over the club's recent string of bad results, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Dawu-based side are weighing up the option of naming under-siege Bashir Hayford who has applied for sabbatical leave at AshantiGold, according to reports.

Dreams succumbed to a huge 4-0 battering at Aduana Stars on Sunday, leaving management hugely worried over the recent performance of the Premier League newcomers.

Akunnor admitted after the game his side were not defensively discipline as they recorded their 3rd defeat in their last five games of the top-flight.

Dreams are eyeing a more experienced hands to take charge of the club and they are monitoring the situation at Obuasi as AshantiGold are more likely to part way with Hayford.

Though it is unclear whether Dreams management have initiated talks with Hayford but the former Medeama and Asante Kotoko coach who guided the Miners to their maiden Premier League title in over a decade is likely to accept the Dreams job if he is approached.

Akunnor, a former Ghana captain and VfL Wolfsburg player, would become the third coaching casualty in recent weeks following the sacking of J E Sarpong by Dwarfs and Inter Allies also axing Herbert Addo.

Medeama's Swedish coach Tom Strand has also gone AWOL.
