GNPC to headline Ghana's Fastest Human competition

Accra, May 6, GNA - The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has been unveiled by Ghana's Fastest Human (GFH), as headline sponsor of the 2016 sprint tournament named "GNPC Ghana's Fastest Human".

The unveiling, was announced during the launch of the 2016 edition of the annual sprint athletics competition, which took place at the Adidas House in Accra.

Mr. Alexander Mould, Chief Executive Officer of GNPC said: 'GNPC recognises that the GFH initiative has the potential to unearth talents, that will restore Ghana to its glorious heights in athletics and we are committed to empowering that dream.'

Mr. Mould said the GNPC, viewed partnering Ghana's Fastest Human in the search for talents to lift high the flag of Ghana a national duty.

He said beyond being Headline sponsor for the competitions outlined by Ghana's Fastest Human, 'GNPC was sponsoring the 'GNPC SPEEDSTERS CLUB', which will be an assembly of "the la crème de la crème" from the competitions, to be trained, and prepared for major international tournaments ahead'.

Mr. Mould encouraged the youth who have the requisite talents to enroll in the competition and be discovered to have their talents nurtured to stardom and become worthy ambassadors of Ghana.

Addressing a gathering that included former national athletics heroes, Mike Ahey and Ohene Karikari as well as other management and staff of GNPC, including Director of Operations, Mr.Thomas Manu, Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. Carmen Bruce-Annan, Development and Production Manager, Victor Sunu-Attah, Mr. Mould encouraged all participants in the Ghana's Fastest Human U-18 tournaments, to train well to compete fairly and sportingly.

He lauded the brain behind Ghana's Fastest Human, Mr. Reks Brobby and the patrons of his organisation for their efficiency in organising and sustaining the competitions

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) was established in 1983 by PNDC Law 64 to provide the institutional framework to support the Government's objective of providing adequate and reliable supply of petroleum products and reducing the country's dependence on crude oil imports, through the development of the country's own petroleum resources.
