League Report Ghana Premier League: Hearts of Oak is not a cash cow, Odotei tells GFA
MAY 6, 2016 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak strategic Committee Chairman, Vincent Odotei-Sowah has told the Ghana Football Association (GFA), not to see the club as an avenue to extort money.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty for their failure to control their supporters in their 3-1 loss to Wa All Stars and slapped them with a fine GH¢ 12,000.

Two other officials of the club, Kwame Opare Addo (PRO) and Barimah Attuahene (Board Member) have been banned for 2 years and charged to pay GH¢ 6000 each for inciting fans against the match-day officials prior to the game.

The total amount of fines the club will have to pay is GH¢ 24, 000, and Odotei says the club is not a cash cow.

'We have received the verdict of the Disciplinary Committee and in issues such as these, the first thing to do is to sit down with your lawyers to see the way forward. That is what we going to do," Mr. Odotei-Sowah said in an interview with Asempa FM. 'Our lawyers will advise us on the way forward. Let me make one thing clear, Hearts of Oak is not a cash cow , and we will want everyone to know that. We are going through difficulties like any other club in the league," he said.

Odotei is also unhappy about the fact that the FA waited for about four weeks before releasing their verdict. He said the FA wanted the team to play Kotoko before pronouncing their judgement, and he believes it is unfair.

Hearts of Oak will play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
