Sports News Cape Coast Stadium: President Mahama supports private management of stadia in Ghana
MAY 5, 2016 LISTEN

Soon and very soon, there will be facility managers, as President John Dramani Mahama put it, to take over the management of national stadiums . This will mean the National Sports Authority will lose its rights over the running of stadiums as government intends to entrust a new body with that responsibility.

President Mahama, dreading the horrific effects of poor maintenance culture syndrome with the management of sports facilities in the country, hinted that government will soon evoke the rights of stadia management from the NSA to a new body.

The President made that revelation in his speech at the commissioning of the new Cape Coast stadium on Tuesday evening. It was obvious that the beautiful sight of the 16,000-seater edifice which the President inspected before the official opening, compared to the disgraceful scenes of dilapidated edifices spread across the country beckoned on him to take that initiative.
