Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso crowned off a remarkable season that has seen him break boundaries in the Portuguese League by being named the best player of the season for his club.

The Rio Ave stars was joined by his team mates who are still chasing European football next season at the clubs head quarters but there was no Hoollywood style surprises as the Ghanaian won the top most award on the night.

Alhassan Wakaso whose importance to Pedro Martin's side was highlighted in games he was absent won the coveted best player of the season ahead forwards Helder Tiago and Heldon Augusto.

The 24-year-old who is the younger brother of Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso has played in 29 league games for his club and has been excellent through out the campaign.

The former Portimonense man has shown incredible resilience for Ave and reports are that he would move to bigger club next season.

Spain and Turkey has been muted as possible destinations next season but with his influence growing by game one would not bet against him securing a bumper deal in the summer.
