Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew offered to play for English Premier League club Liverpool for free in a bid to prove his worth to the Anfield club.
The Ghanaian player prior to his transfer move to Welsh club Swansea City from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille asked to play for Liverpool without wages until the January transfer window as a means to convince the Reds to sign him.
Ayew was a free agent then with his contract at Olympique Marseille having run out meaning Liverpool were not going to pay anything for six months and could still have the Ghana international playing for them.
The Reds however looked at other options signing Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi.
