Aduana Stars Breaks Liberty Professionals’ Home Invincibility

Liberty Professionals home superiority in the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League (GPL) came to a crumble on Matchday 10 as Aduana Stars defied all odds to beat the scientific soccer lads by 3-2 at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, Accra.

The scientific soccer lads (Liberty Professionals) broke the deadlock as early as the 3^rd minute when attacking midfielder Latif Blessing curled a beautiful ball past goalkeeper Joseph Addo who had come off his line.

Aduana Stars quickly regrouped and took control of the midfield with former Asante Kotoko winger Richard Mpong, Zakaria Mumuni, Elvis Opoku, and Bright Adjei punching holes in Liberty’s defence especially through the left back where Richard Antwi was on guard.

The visitors pulled parity in the 13^th minute through Zakaria Mumuni. Godfred Saka surged forward, found Richard Mpong who sends an in swinger to Liberty’s box for Mumuni to head it straight into the net.

Benjamin Eshun could have extended the lead for the scientific soccer lads in the 25^th minute when he was put through by Tamimu Muntari. Joseph Addo stood between Aduana Stars and goal in the 26^th minute when punched off Ebo Mends’ shot from a close range.

The terminator (Yahya Mohammed) clipped an intelligent one-time ball over Liberty Professionals goalkeeper Eric Andoh from 35 yards away, but his ball missed the angle by a whisker.

Joseph Addo stretched himself to its elastic limit in the 67th minute to deny Benjamin Eshun from scoring. Liberty Professionals extended their lead in the 69th minute through Edward Ebo Mends who connected from Tamimu Muntari’s corner kick.

Yahya Mohammed responded in the 75th minute when he capitalized on goalkeeper Eric Andoh’s poor anticipation to put Aduana Stars back on track.

However, substitute Derrick Sasraku scored the match winner for Aduana Stars in the 90^th minute when he connected home from Zakaria Mumuni’s free kick.
