Sports News Abdul Baba Rahman: Chelsea defender gears up for derby game that could crown Schlupp and Amartey champions
MAY 2, 2016 LISTEN

Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman could help his Chelsea teammates win the English Premier League for international teammate Jeffrey Schlupp and Daniel Amartey.

Chelsea go into their London derby game against Tottenham Hotspur needing a win or a draw to kill Tottenham Hotspur's dreams of winning the Premier League title.

Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have already expressed their 'hate' at seeing Spurs win the league and somehow, the situation is in the hands of current Premier League champions Chelsea.

Baba Rahman has never played in the London derby but says his team knows what it means for the fans to win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to Chelsea's official club website, the Black Stars defender said:

'I was on the bench at Tottenham and also at Arsenal and I saw the atmosphere. They were both very good.

'We know what it means to the fans and to the club as well. We expect a good atmosphere and very good support from the fans, as they do always.'

The former Asante Kotoko, Greuther Furth and Augsburg player also recalled experiences from derby games in the past as he bids for a first London derby game at the Stamford Bridge outfit.

'For Greuther Furth I played against Nuremberg a couple of times. The second time was my last game for Furth and I scored two goals. It was the perfect way to say goodbye,' Baba Rahman said.

'Ghana's main rival is Nigeria - we are almost the same, we have a lot of similarities and share a lot of things. When we play against each other it's always a tough game, and all of us really want to win it. Obi knows it too!'

Chelsea entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
