Sports News Nii Lantey Vanderpuye: Sports Minister to hand national stadia management to private companies
APR 29, 2016 LISTEN

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says the country will give out the national stadia to private bodies to manage the facilities.

According to the former Sports broadcast journalist, the National Sports Authority does not have the required ability to manage the stadia.

"The National Sports Authority does not have what it takes to manage the stadia. No private person will allow Essipong (sports stadium) to stay there without using it to generate anything," Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye said.

The Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency added that private bodies interested to managing the facilities should table a proposal and they will be given the green light to manage the facilities on behalf of the country.

"I am asking anyone who is interested in any of facilities to bring a proposal. We will look at it and give it to be managed on our behalf.

"The Kumasi Sports Stadium, the National Sports Authority does not even have qualified marketing people to go out there and market the stadium. How do we get advertisers to advertise to raise funds for the management of the facility?

"All the spaces there are good for people to market their products, but what do we see, because there's nobody to market it to people out there who are interested, it is deteriorating without any benefit to the country," he said.
