22.04.2016 LISTEN

Relentless Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is in great contention for the best foreign player in the 2015/16 Kuwaiti Premier League award.

Sumaila, 23, has been in splendid form for Kuwaiti Premier League leaders Al Qadsia guiding them to their first title in so many years.

The Ghana defender will be wrestling for the award with four other players including Brazilian striker Luiz Fabiano.

Other players for the award include Shady Alhmami of Al Kuwaiti FC, Feras Alkhatib of Al Arabi FC and Al Salmiya midfielder Oday Alsaifi.

The Ghanaian is the only defender in the list of nominees for the award.

Sumaila's flawless form this season has seen Al Qadsia concede just ten goals out of 27 matches in all season.

He has won seven MVPs in 23 league matches with two league goals to his credit.

The former Asante Kotoko and Dwarfs defender is regarded by many soccer pundits in Kuwait as the best defender for the season and stands the chance of winning the award as the best foreign player in the league.
