Nsawam, April 18, GNA - The Blue Skies Volleyball team came down from a set down, to beat Unity Volleyball Club of Koforidua, by three sets to two, to be crowned champions of the first edition of the Blue Skies Peace Volleyball Gala, at Nsawam.

Unity Club, won the first set by 25 to 21 points, with Blue skies coming back strongly to win the second set by 25 to 22 points.

Unity Club, with their experience took control of the third set and won by 25 to 21 points, whiles Blue Skies also relied on home support to come back for the second time in the game to win the fourth set by 25 to 17 points.

Blue Skies then took advantage of their home support to beat Unity Club in the fifth set by 15 to seven points.

Akwatia Viber Hands also defeated Country Side Keep fit Club, from Doboro by two sets to one in the third and fourth place match.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Alistair Djimatey, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Blue Skies Company said, the peace volleyball gala, which is aimed at promoting peace before, during and after the 2016 general elections, is one of the activities lined up by the company to help educate and sensitize the public about the need for peaceful elections.

He said, the Blue Skies foundation, a corporate arm of the company which works with the local communities would as part of its activities reach out to the communities on the need to have a peaceful election in the country.

The PRO said, the volleyball gala also forms part of efforts to promote some lesser known sports .

For winning the gala, the Blue Skies team took home gold medals, volleyball and products from the company, whiles the second place team, Unity Club also took silver medals, volleyball and products from Blue Skies.

Akwatia Viber hands who placed third, had bronze medals and volleyball, all other participating teams received products of Blue Skies.
