Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah would love to have Rafael Varane as centre-back pair

Anzhi Makhachkala defender Jonathan Mensah says he would to have Real Madrid's Rafael Varane as his centre-back pair.

Mensah believes the France international has all the qualities to become one of the best defenders in the world.

Though lacking regular game time Real Madrid, Mensah rates Varane highly as one of the reliable and intelligent centre backs of the game.

Asked what centre back in the world, past or present, who would love to play alongside, Mensah told Cross the Line:

"As a defender, I would choose, Rafael Varane. He is young and intelligent, he reads the game so well.

"He's been at Madrid for a few years now and he has all the qualities to be one of the best defenders in the world."
