Sports Minister designate Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has stated clearly that he will exorcise the ‘ghost’ at the Ministry when he assume full responsibility.

The sports ministry remains one of the most hit by reshuffle exercises, seven ministers serving under President Mahama administration.

But Nii Lante being the eighth, after Mubarak Muntaka, Akua Sena  Dansoa, Rashid Pelpuo, Clement Kofi Humado, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Mahama Ayariga and Dr Mustafa Ahmed, has vowed to remain in office till he resigns on his own volition.

He revealed in an interview that if indeed there is a ghost or something that necessitates the frequent removal of ministers then, the time has come to apply break on the agent.

“Whether there is a ghost, mafia or whatever they term it, I will exorcise it. May be that thing has not met a person of my caliber, everyone has his style and unique way of doing things. I know the God I have believed in and serve.”

“I want to be like ET Mensah where I serve the Ministry till l want no more.”

“I will ensure that I represent the interest of the people, that if a document says henceforth traveling with cash for players outside Ghana should be a thing of the past, that is what I will work with. I am principled, not arrogant.”

The former Deputy Trade Minister and sports commentator bemoaned the current state of sports in the country with particular reference to the domestic leagues and juvenile soccer.

He promised to work with all stakeholders to ensure a successful tenure.
