Ghana striker Abdul  Majeed  Waris has been axed from the squad of his club Lorient their French Cup clash against Sarre-Union on Wednesday after clashing with his manager at the weekend.

Waris featured for just 45 minutes against Montpellier on Saturday in Lorient's Ligue 1 bout, and was replaced following the early sending off of teammate Francois Bellogou.

The forward clearly didn't take too kindly to Sylvain Ripoll's decision to sacrifice him after being reduced to ten men, and went straight to the dressing room after being subbed.

He was criticised by his manager after the match, with Ripoll admitting his dissatisfaction at the forward's behaviour.

"It was the kind of behaviour that I don't like to see," Ripoll said after the match, as per Ouest France, "and that I want to battle because I don't like it."

As if to make his point, Ripoll has opted not take Waris with the team to Alsace for their French Cup Round-of-16 match against CFA side Sarre-Union on Wednesday evening.

While Les Merlus may not need the Black Star against the third tier side, Waris may will be disappointed to have missed out on the chance to continue to establish himself at Lorient and to have improved his scoring record against the lower-league minnows.

The attacker—who endured an injury-hit campaign at Trabzonspor last season—has managed four goals and three assists in 13 Ligue 1 outings so far this season.
