Accra, Feb. 9, GNA - Ghana's fast growing soccer academy, Right to Dream has organized a talent recruitment exercise for girls between 9-11 years to enter the Academy.

The Academy is currently on a regional tour of Accra and Kumasi scouting for talented girls, who fall within the age category, where the best will be selected.

The trial test, which took place at the Kawukudi Park Nima, Accra, saw about 40 girls exhibiting their talents, coupled with educational brilliance and good character.

Managers, coaches, school representatives and parents were present to see their wards through the talent recruitment exercise as well as top scouts from Right to Dream, who assessed the girls for a scholarships into the Academy.

The purpose of the girl's programme is to challenge and change the perception of female football in Africa and to develop role models and leaders to take on that challenge.

The Director of Partnership of the Academy James Meller told the GNA Sports that, Ghana has a lot of football talents, and that, he's excited about the turnout and the level of commitment of the girls.

He said ''the girls are passionate and committed to exhibit their talent. There are real talents in the girls. There are really potentials in Ghana. We are not here for just football but also to test their academic brilliance. We want them to focus on football and also academics for further opportunities''.

The recruitment seeks to give girls the opportunity to have the same level of development to express their talents in football and education, with the best ones being given the opportunity to further prove themselves for scholarships and entry into the Academy.

The trials started in May 2013 and so far, 19 scholarships had been awarded to talented girls from Ghana and other West Africa countries to attend the academy. In August last year, the first two female students graduated from the Academy and were given student athlete scholarships to prestigious high schools in the U.S.A.
