Accra, Feb. 9, GNA - Multipro Private Ltd. (Indomie) has supported the Ghana Weightlifting Federation's (GWF) Youth development programme initiative with an amount of GH¢20,000 and GH¢10,000 worth of Indomie.

The Youth development programme targets young talents between the ages of 6-13 and focuses on unearthing young talents for the next generation of weightlifters in Ghana.

The President of the GWF, Mr. Ben Nunoo-Mensah said the initiative runs throughout the year and would focus on youngsters from the basic schools, who will be trained to replace members of the weightlifting team.

''We want to catch them young and train so that Ghana becomes one of the best weightlifting countries in the world''.

He said with the school activation programme, the Federation will once in every month go to the various cluster of schools to create visibility through demonstrations, to enable the youth to engage and participate in the discipline.

The Country Director of Indomie, Mahesh Shar, said his outfit's love for sports pushed the Company to support Ghana's All Africa Games campaign in Congo Brazzaville last year and will continue to support weightlifting so that it becomes the leading discipline in the country.

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, said he was elated to see the young talents and urged corporate Ghana to support the growth of sports in the country and commended the sponsors for the gesture.
