Sports News Liverpool: Roberto Firmino voted PFA Fans' Player for January
FEB 9, 2016 LISTEN

Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino has been named as the Professional Footballers' Association's Fans' Player of the Month for January, after beating off competition from the Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Roberto Firmino of Liverpool scored his team's 2 goals against Arsenal at Anfield on January 13, 2016 in their 3-3 draw and also scored 2 goals against Norwich after assuming his new role as the leading attacker for the Reds.

The Brazilian had a stuttering start to life at Anfield following his £29m move from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, but he impressed last month.

Firmino scored four goals in four Premier League games during January, scoring twice in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal and another double in his side's thrilling 5-4 win at Norwich.

Firmino scooped the award after receiving 40.2% of the public vote, beating Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney (36.4%) and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane (23.2%).
