Crystal Palace midfielder Hiram Boateng could the next Europe-born player to join the Black Stars after he made his English Premier League debut on Saturday.

The 20-year-old was a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw at Swansea.

Palace manager Alan Pardew has been deprived of some key midfield players because of injuries, with James McArthur ruled out for the rest of the season with torn ankle ligaments.

That has led to Boateng being drafted into the first-team squad, and then playing as a 70th-minute substitute for France international Yohan Cabaye.

Boateng almost scored with one of his first touches of the ball, with a low shot from distance which went only narrowly wide.

This is what The Croydon Advertiser had to say about Boateng after his Premier League debut at The Liberty Stadium.

"The youngster looked set for a loan return to Plymouth Argyle, but how things change due to the number of squad injuries? And do you know what? He slotted in superbly, as if he had played in the Premier League previously.

"For someone to come on at 1-1 and to replace Yohan Cabaye was a lot of pressure, but he was calm and tidy."

Boateng showed his potential to be a powerful midfield presence during the first three months of this season with Argyle.
