Christian Atsu is grateful for the opportunity given him by Spanish La Liga team Malaga after his loan transfer from English Premier League Champions Chelsea.

The Ghanaian who played the first half of the season at Premier League side AFC Bournemouth joined the Spanish club in the January transfer window after parent club Chelsea ended the first loan spell.

Speaking to MCFTV [Malaga's in-house television network], the former FC Porto player who scored on his La Liga debut for Malaga on Friday talked about a host of topics including his adaptation at La Rosaleda, the opportunity given by the Spanish club, the fans and his new club. On Christian Atsu's debut and adaptation at Malaga

'It had been a while since I played, but I felt good, confident and very pleased to play at La Rosaleda.  We have a great group of players, they're easy to work with and I feel very comfortable, they're all jokers!  I've adapted very quickly as I had a great welcome.' The Opportunity

'Gracia is a very prepared coach and he gave me a chance to play at a time he thought best for the Club.  I'm grateful for this opportunity, it's what I've needed for a long time, and I look forward to working hard to please the coaching team and the Club.  It was a good 45 minutes on the pitch.  If I want to show my best level, I need to keep playing and working hard.' Support and fans at La Rosaleda

'The fans are fantastic, playing at La Rosaleda is spectacular.  I loved playing there and I can't wait to do it again.  I'd like to thank the fans for their support during and after the game.' Mood at Malaga

'Málaga is a great team, I followed their participation in the Champions League, and I'm very happy to be here.' The Spanish La Liga

'It's one of the best leagues in the world, a difficult league, but it's going well.  It's a very technical competition with a great deal of ball possession.  I'm thrilled to play in LaLiga. Compared to other competitions it's more technical, with more possession; whilst the Premier League is more physical and they play more quickly.'
