Kotoko Threatens To Walk Away As Ghana Premier League Hangs On Ice

Operations officer of Asante Kotoko Ali Maradona has said that the Porcupine Warriors may stage a boycott of the Ghana Premier League should the GFA fails to put its house in order.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show on Thursday, February 3, 2016, Ali Maradona said, “In fact, we are increasingly getting worried about the way things are going with regards to the league.”

“The Premier League Board (PLB) released the full fixtures for the season on Monday only for the Ethics Committee to issue a counter statement that one of the sixteen teams, Techiman City FC have been demoted to Division II so as it stands I can’t say for sure that we are indeed going to start on the said February 20^th date but let’s hope for the best”

“Such things affect we the clubs greatly because we have plan our training schedule against the date so any alteration of the date will have a negative impact on our team and the concentration of the players as well,” he said.

“I think we have to go and play in Kigali should the league fail to start on the 20^th. Personally, I think Kwesi Nyantekyi must dissolve all the various committees because most people are losing faith in their work,” Ali Maradona noted.

Despite the various brouhaha surrounding the commencement of the league, the Communications department of the Ghana Football Association has issued a communiqué that the Ethics Committee’s ruling will not have any bearing on the start of the league.
