Medeama have emerged as winners of the 2016 Super Cup after beating Premier League Champions Ashgold by a lone goal at the Accra Stadium on Sunday.

New signing Bernard Ofori scored in the 86th minute to give the FA Cup winners a win in the season opening clash.

After a goalless first half, Ashgold scored mid way into the second half but had their goal disallowed as Frederick Quayson's was judged to be in an offside position.

And with three minutes to full time, Benard Ofori managed to put the ball past Fatau Dauda in post for Ashgold.

The Super Cup clash which is a curtain raiser for the season, also helped the two sides to prepare for their upcoming CAF Continental matches.

Ashantigold will host Algerian side MO Bejaia in their Champions League match on Sunday February 14 while Medeama will begin their Confederation Cup campaign against either Ittihad of Libya or AS Sonidep of Niger.
