Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore says he wants to see Jordan Ayew and Libor Kozak in a strike partnership at the club.

Collymore shared his views in his publication for BoyleSports.

He said: 'The signs against Palace were promising. Ayew and Kozak need to play together to see if they can strike up a partnership.'

Remi Garde started Kozak against Palace, the forward's first start since his return from injury earlier this season.

Although not in an out-and-out partnership with Ayew, the duo were the most attacking players, with Carles Gil playing off them.

For Villa, the decision was rewarded, with Kozak putting in a top class performance upfront.

He may not have scored - Joleon Lescott netted the only goal of the game - but the Czech striker was a dominating presence in the final third.

He won six aerial duels, completed three tackles, two dribbles, and managed two shots.

His overall play showed passion and energy, two traits missing from Villa's play this season, and he surely has to start again this weekend.
