Talented Ghanaian youth defender Emmanuel Hackmann was top of the match for Boavista but they suffered elimination from the Portuguese Cup as FC Porto nicked a 1-0 win on Wednesday. 

The former Liberty Professionals players, 20, was deployed at left-back by Boavista manager Erwin Sanchez and he stood out.

Hackmann has replaced the Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom at the club and his promising performance in the game won him the praise of his manager.

Boavista and Porto were both gunning to reach the final of the semi-final of the competition but Algerian Yacine Brahimi struck in the 24th minute to claim victory for the visitors.

Hackmann joined Portuguese third-tier side Vila Real three seasons ago from Liberty and was acquired by Boavista before the start of the season.
