Grant Explains Kwarasey Snub

Black Stars coach Avram Grant insists he has no personal grudge or ill-feeling towards former Ghana number one goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey.

The Portland Timbers goal stopper has been in incredible form since moving from Norway to the United States last season, but he is missing in action as far as international duties are concerned.

His conspicuous absence has stoked controversy among the football community with many citing personal rift between the goalkeeper and the technical team.

Grant, since accepting Ghana's coaching job, has tried once to woo the 27-year-old but club commitments did not permit the latter to honour the invitation.

The Israeli trainer, explaining why he has maintained Razak Braimah since last January, at a press conference yesterday said, ''I don't have any personal issue with anybody in the Black Stars. For me I work for the team.

'There are three criteria I use to select players. First is quality, second is personality and third is commitment to the national team is the most important.'

Kwarasey launched a verbal attack on Black Stars goalkeepers' trainer Nassam Yakubu after the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Indications are that the Norway-born Ghanaian has insisted he will return to national duty when trainer Yakubu checks out.
