Five-goal thriller: Jordans goal not enough as Villas woes deepen
28.11.2015 LISTEN

The sad bells of winless game rang at Villa Park as they played their last Premier League game ahead of the festive month of December. A gloom of disappointment covered the stadium as Remi Garde and his men left the field.

Another hope of a victorious match day dashed. Only time and winning games can now save them from the downpour of relegation criticisms.

Jordan Ayew and his Aston Villa side entertained Premier League new boys Watford at Villa Park on Saturday in the English Premier League.

The Ghanaian and his side tried to come back from behind twice on home soil but failed miserable as they were edged in a five goal thriller.

Odion Ighalo scored the opener for away side Watford before skipper of the home side Micah Richards leveled moments to the first half break to put the game at 1-1 on the interval.

The celebration of the equalizer from the former Manchester City man and his team mates showed how Villa players were desperately in need of a win.

Their no lack of zeal and consistent determination to return to winning ways in the league was however dented by an Alan Hutton own goal and a Troy Deeney goal to put Watford 3-1 up.

Ghana international Jordan Ayew pulled one back for his side with a minute to the end of regular time but the game was already down the drain for a Villa side whose only win in the Premier League this season came on the opening day.

After 14 rounds of match days, it is still one win for Aston Villa. And after a full game at the Villa Park on match day 14, the score line was Aston Villa 2-3 Watford.
