London, Nov. 27, (GNA/dpa) - Liverpool are waiting on the results of a scan to learn the full extent of a latest injury setback for striker Daniel Sturridge.

The England forward, who returned from injury to be on the bench for last weekend's Premier League win at Manchester City, missed the midweek Europa League match with Bordeaux with a foot problem.

"I don't know too much about the situation," Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said, having seen his side's 2-1 win sealed their place in the last 32 of the competition.

"It wasn't a situation I saw because we trained in two groups - the starting line-up and the other players.

"It was really close to the game when the news came. At the moment we have to wait. We trained this morning, we were at the hotel and he had to leave to have a scan. We have to wait for the results."

Sturridge has made three appearances this season and has spent much of the past two years on the treatment table.

Last season, he missed five months with a thigh injury before also picking up calf problems and then suffered a hip injury in March, which ended his season
