Dan-deVan Group of Companies in collaboration with the National Paralympic Committee will be organising a first ever Para Sports Festival, dubbed the Dan-deVan National Paralympic Festival at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 29th November, 2015.

The collaboration forms part of the company’s mission of ‘making our customers happy by going beyond their expectations.’

This new development comes after the company sponsored the successful launch of Ghana’s first ever wheelchair racing club, the ‘Go Get Them Racing’ club on 23rd April, 2015.

Events lined up for the day include a top-6 wheelchair tennis competition, a wheelchair basketball game involving two teams , a 15km wheelchair race and a 15km hand cycling race.

The occasion will be a joyous celebration of the achievement of para sports athletes in the country, both locally and internationally.

Dan-deVan’s involvement with Para Sports

After successful initiating a program of offering academic scholarships to children with various forms of disabilities, Dan-deVan sponsored four national athletes to win an unprecedented four medals at the 2015 Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge in George South Africa in February, 2015.

Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo led the Ghanaian honours with a gold medal in the 21km race while debutant Ayishetu Seidu won gold in the 42km full marathon Open women T53/54.

Three-time Olympian Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe picked up a silver medal in the men’s full marathon Open T53/54 while Yakubu Abukari settled for a bronze medal in the same event.

Then known as ‘Yak-Dan Shipping, the company sponsored the successful launch of Ghana’s first ever wheelchair racing club, the ‘Go Get Them Racing’ club on 23rd April, 2015.

Subsequently, the Accra based company sponsored the ‘2015 Yak-Dan National Juniors Wheelchair Tennis camp’ in Kumasi on 31st May.

Dan-deVan Group of Companies, a full-service transportation and logistics company which is also involved in construction, freight forwarding and international trading, continues to play a pioneering role in the development of para sports in Ghana.

The Chairman of the Dan-deVan Group of Companies Daniel Mensah said his outfit was happy to be partnering with the National Paralympic Committee to honour para sports athletes.
