A REPORTER of Kotoko Express, the official mouthpiece of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, was allegedly sacked from the club's event in Kumasi last week.

David Kyei suffered the embarrassment after he was asked by a club official to leave the premises of Golden Tulip in Kumasi, venue for the programme.

Kotoko had organized the press conference to throw light on the upcoming match between the club and Veria FC of Greece to mark Kotoko's 80th birthday.

Sources claimed George Kennedy, Kotoko's Operations Manager, without provocation, asked the reporter to leave the event venue.

David Kyei was said to have left the venue as was ordered, and could therefore not provide coverage for the important event.

Commenting on the issue on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, George Kennedy, who is an ex-Kotoko player, flatly debunked the reports, saying 'it is not true.'

He explained that the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, owner of Kotoko, recently expressed worry over reports by Kotoko Express on the club.

Kennedy said he only informed David Kyei that Kotoko's management would soon invite Kotoko Express for a meeting about their recent reports.

He said he was therefore surprised that some people had decided to create an erroneous impression that he (Kennedy) sacked the Kotoko Express reporter from the event, adding, 'I don't even have the power to do so.'
