Kumasi, Oct. 13, GNA - The Management of Asante Kotoko S/C has constituted a Recruitment Committee to scout for new players for the club.

The Committee, with Coach David Duncan, as Chairman, is expected to help identify young and talented players for recruitment, to bring more bite to the team ahead of the 2015/16 First Capital Plus Premier League.

Mr. Kwaku Amponsah, a Board Member, told GNA Sports in Kumasi that the move was informed by the disappointing performance by the club last season, ending the period without any trophy.

This development brought in its wake a mounting pressure on the Board and Management, and already there were speculations that both institutions could be dissolved by the Owner and Spiritual Leader of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, the Asantehene.

He said the Committee would be presenting a proposal to the Board to secure funds to achieve their mission statement.

Kotoko, finished seventh on the league log last season, and short of the previous season which saw the Porcupine Warriors claim their third consecutive league title, and also won the FA Cup.

Some supporters have attributed the dismal performance to the caliber of players recruited by the Management, arguing that most of the players lacked the talent and psychological strength needed to feature for Ghana's most successful club.

Mr. Amponsah, also Chairman of the Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC), said Management was committed to making amends for the club to take its rightful place at the continental level.
