Adama Larsen Kwarsey's absence in the Ghana national team looks to continue after the goalkeeper asked to be excused for the next Tuesday's international friendly against Canada in Washington, according to reports.

Ghanaian media reports indicate that Kwarasey's Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Portland Timbers have written to the Ghana Football Association requesting that the shot stopper be left out of the Black Stars squad for October 13 friendly due to the fact that they will need him for the MLS game against Real Salt Lake two days later.

Kwarasey has been in a self-imposed international exile since falling out with Black Stars selectors at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil but had looked set to return to the Ghana post for the friendly in the country where he plies his trade after confirming his intentions to return.

But it appears his national team return will have to wait a bit longer following the latest development, Kwarasey remember have excelled for Timbers this term crowning it with the club's Community player of the year award over the weekend after playing in all but one of their 31 league games so far.

The Black Stars were scheduled to face Peru this Friday, October 9 before the game against Canada next Tuesday but the match against Peru looks less likely to happen as visa acquisition difficulties have hampered the naming of the squad for the two friendlies by Coach Avram Grant.
