Sports News Fergie hairdryer: Ronaldo reveals Ferguson told him F*** you!
OCT 7, 2015 LISTEN

Alex Ferguson hit the headlines recently by being stingy in his praise of his players at Manchester United, claiming that he only really had four world class players at Old Trafford during his time.

Obviously the former Red Devils boss made this dubious statement in order to big up his own management skills, and thereby sell more copies of his latest book, 'Leading'.

But now one of the four players he did acknowledge as being a bit handy, Cristiano Ronaldo, has suggested that Fergie's style of 'leading' is on occasion more about ranting than tactical genius or motivational skill.

Speaking to Four Four Two magazine , Ronaldo said: 'I remember sometimes when we do something bad or we lost some games he kicked the chairs and he kicked the boots, he kicked everything, the waters, the drinks.

'And he's so red and, 'F*** you, you should pass the ball, you…'

'It was unbelievable but it was good - because we learn.'

We're not entirely sure that Real Madrid's players (or fans) would agree that Ronaldo did actually learn to pass more. But he did at least learn to score more often when ball-hogging, which probably worked just as well.

Ryan Giggs also spoke to the magazine about Ferguson's infamous 'hairdryer' treatment.

'I remember him having a go at me at half-time and I had the sort of attitude that 'Right, I'll show him',' said Giggs.

'And I played well in the second half, so then he quickly knew how I would respond to him losing his temper.

'That followed me for the next 20 years, so it was a big mistake early on.'
